How many gifts stay hidden because we’ve convinced ourselves they aren’t significant enough to matter?
We look at what someone else can do and assume their gift is more useful. More impressive. More needed.
Meanwhile, the very thing God placed in us goes unused because we’re waiting for it to feel important.
1 Peter 4:10 says:
“Each of you has been blessed with one of God’s many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others, so use your gift well.”
What stands out is that Peter calls our gifts something we’ve received.
They were entrusted to us.
And maybe that changes the question from, “Am I good enough at this?” to “What am I going to do with what God gave me?”
Your gift doesn’t need a platform to have purpose.
Sometimes it looks like knowing exactly what to say when someone needs encouragement. Maybe you have a way of making people feel welcome, or you notice needs other people walk right past.
We tend to celebrate the gifts that are easy to see.
God doesn’t seem nearly as concerned with visibility.
He cares about faithfulness.
There is someone who may experience the grace of God differently because you were willing to use what He placed in you.
Not perfectly. Not like someone else.
Just faithfully.
So use your gift.
It was given to you on purpose.
But it was never meant to stop with you.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the gifts You have entrusted to us. Help us stop comparing what You’ve placed in our hands with what You’ve given someone else. Show us where we can use our gifts to serve the people around us, and let the way we use them point back to You. Amen.
Live the Verse:
Carry the reminder with you: Use your gift.
Use Your Gift is rooted in 1 Peter 4:10, a reminder that what God has placed in us was given with purpose and meant to be shared with others.
