One of the hardest parts of following God is realizing His plans rarely unfold the way we imagined.

We picture the destination.

God begins with our heart.

We ask Him to show us the finish line.

He simply asks us to take the next step.

There are moments when it can feel like maybe we heard Him wrong.

Not because He is not faithful.

But because the road looks different than we expected.

Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

It is one of the most quoted verses in Scripture.

But it is also one of the easiest to misunderstand.

God was not promising His people an immediate breakthrough.

He was reminding them that even in a season they never would have chosen, He had not abandoned His plan.

We all need that reminder.

Just because life looks different than we imagined does not mean God is doing something different than He promised.

Sometimes what feels like a detour is actually protection.

Sometimes the delay is where faith grows roots.

Sometimes the dream changes because God has something better in mind than the version we were trying so hard to hold onto.

Trusting God does not always answer every question.

But it can give us peace to keep walking.

Maybe that is enough for today.

Not having every answer.

Just enough faith for the next step.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for seeing what we cannot. When our plans begin to change, remind us that Yours never have. Help us trust Your heart, even when we do not understand Your timing, and give us the courage to keep walking where You are leading. Amen.
