When life starts feeling uncertain, it is easy to grip everything a little tighter.

We replay conversations, overthink decisions we have already made, and start carrying outcomes that do not actually belong to us.

Somewhere along the way, we begin believing that if we can just keep everything under control, everything will be okay.

But that is exhausting.

And maybe it is not what God ever asked us to carry.

Psalm 46:5 says:

“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.”

Notice that the verse does not say there were no tears, no questions, or no uncertainty.

It points us back to the presence of God.

Maybe that is where steadiness begins.

Not because nothing around us is changing,
but because the One within us isn’t.

There is freedom in realizing we do not have to manage tomorrow before it arrives.

We do not have to solve every problem tonight.

We do not have to control every outcome.

We do not have to carry what belongs to God.

Sometimes faith looks less like holding on tighter and more like finally opening our hands.

Prayer

Lord, we have spent enough time trying to carry things You never asked us to hold. Teach us to trust You with what is outside our control. Help us remember that Your presence is stronger than our fear, and Your peace is steadier than our circumstances. Amen.

Carry the reminder with you: We do not have to hold everything together. God is holding us.
